 water tension: Surface tension could be defined as the property of the surface of a liquid that allows it to resist an external force, due to the cohesive nature of the water molecules.

in other words it keeps things like leaves and some bugs from breaking the waters surface and sinking due to its density and mass being too light to break the compact tension of the water molecules.

and sometimes that's the only thing keeping it in the water....
